  As I predicted right here in the Saloon... We are but days away from Paul McKinley ending his governors campaign... He has all but disappeared from the campaign trail... And is now canceling events as well... There are 2 big Republican events coming up this weekend... One in Marshalltown on Friday... And one in Waukee on Saturday... McKinley is going to be a no-show at both... And while you would think his disappearance from the campaign trail would mean he is raising money for Senate Republicans...that is not the case either... Senate Republicans that come in the Saloon wonder what the hell he has been doing... They say the only thing that will screw up Senate Republicans chance of picking up seats in 2010 is....   Sorry...was gone yesterday... I left Oskaloosa looking for Leonard Boswell... I thought he must be somewhere in his district... After all... I picked up the Des Moines Register in the bathroom and they had a big list of town meeting locations for Iowa's congressmen and senators...   All they listed for Leonard.. My congressman here in Oskaloosa... Was one measley location.. I thought that just couldn't be right... But...after spending all day yesterday looking... I give up... Guess I will just show up in Sigourney on Thursday...that's the one place you can find Leonard in Iowa during all of August... And to help draw a crowd...I will bring a few girls and have PBR on tap in the parking lot of the library... Come join me... Let's make Leonard earn his pay...after all...appears he is only working one day this whole month... Makes me think that being a congressman might actually be better than being a bar ... Full story

  The answer to this one is easy.... They all want Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley to produce a socialized medicine bill in the US Senate... All the fun started on Saturday when the Des Moines Register published a guest opinion editorial by Iowa's Most Racist Senator Jack Hatch... The only surprising thing about the editorial is that there is any credible news source in the state that will publish anything from Iowa's Most Racist Senator... But...leave it to the Register.... They give that racist plenty of column space to tell Grassley to do the right thing and work with Obama to produce soclialized medicine... Then...we have Barack Obama enter the room.. He is attempting to astroturf Grassley...sending out thousands of emails to Iowans getting them to attend a Grassley meeting... And then...I pick up a copy of the Des Moines Register in the bathroom this morning...and what do I read? Steve ... Full story

  Wells Fargo announced today that local executive Mark Oman would receive a raise... A $3.93 million dollar raise... This is the same Wells Fargo that got $25 billion in TARP money... And the same Mark Oman that is the head of Wells Fargo's home finance and credit card units... Yeah.. We're mostly Republicans here in the Saloon...but that is just gross... Oman and Wells Fargo suck on the tit (thank you Senator Grassley) of the federal government...and then pull down a 83% salary increase... At the same time...the rest of the businesses in Iowa that were not bailed out are closing...or laying people off... So...taxpayers put $25 billion into Wells Fargo... Oman pulls down a $4 million pay raise...83% more than he made last year... At what point do taxpayers say this is stupid and say pull the plug on TARP? Oman is just like the rest of them...another greedy government sucker... I'm not ... Full story

Iowa's Most Racist Senator is Back in the News Again Well...Iowa's Most Racist Senator Jack Hatch is back from Algeria... And he spent some time on WHO radio telling central Iowa that he is embarassed at the healthcare offered in the United States... Especially in comparison to what is offered in Algeria... So.. We are taking up a collection here in the Saloon to send his sorry ass to Algeria to live...   It has been eerily silent over at Iowa Democratic Party headquarters for awhile...     Kiernan is usually shooting out immature missives about Republican X or Republican Y...   An email from an avid Saloon fan told me that the last we heard out of Chairman Michael Kiernan was on the day Rod Roberts entered the Republican primary for governor..   On that day Kiernan made fun of Roberts and all the other Republicans running for governor...   Calling them one short of the seven dwarfs..(which is an interesting reference since the current governor could fit the profile of either Sleepy or Dopey...)   That same day Kiernan also seemed to make fun of Roberts because he is an ordained minister..   Word on the street is that Kiernan caught a lot of hell from the leadership of his party for being so stupid...(Democrats believe in God too it seems...)   All this got me to ...
